There is less and less for us to see this Christopher Nolan movie that promises a totally different look at World War II, 'Dunkirk'. This time, it shows us a bit more than what will hit the screen with three new trailers.
Allied and British troops are surrounded by enemy forces. The sea has cornered all, while the danger is approaching. Nolan has been able to successfully promote this film, since it is clear that he did not limit himself to telling the story written in books, but small individual stories.
The most exciting part of this film is the incredible team that he has been working with: director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar), production designer Nathan Crowley (The Dark Knight Trilogy), editor Lee Smith (The Dark Knight Trilogy), costume design Jeffrey Kurland (Inception) and visual effects chief Andrew Jackson (Mad Max: Fury Road). Hans Zimmer is in charge of music.
A few weeks after its release, Dunkirk (Dunkirk in Latin America) was released, revealing the following: it is the shortest film in the film career of Christopher Nolan, which began in 1998 with Following.
Set in World War II, Dunkirk lasts 1 hour and 47 minutes, exactly 62 minutes less than Nolan's previous project, Interstellar (2014). The duration of Dunkirk is unique for this season, where the most important dramas are exceeding 2 hours and a half.
#Based on the best-selling book by Ian McEwan release date: June 21, 2017
Dunkirk is one of the most anticipated titles of this season in the United States and other countries. In fact, the director recently received a warm welcome during the presentation of Warner Bros. at CineEurope, which annually brings together the greats of the film industry internationally. Dunkirk tells the story 'Operation Dynamo' or 'The Dunkirk Miracle', a risky plan to rescue 400,000 Allied soldiers who had been surrounded by Nazi forces on the island of Dunkirk in France during World War II.
Directed by Christopher Nolan, Dunkirk stars Tom Hardy, Kenneth Branagh and Mark Rylance alongside Harry Styles. Fionn Whitehead, the rising British actor whose big-screen debut lands next month as the lead in Christopher Nolan's WWII epic Dunkirk, has found himself another major role.
The 20-year-old is set to star in Caravan, the next project from Sebastian Schipper. The German director's last film, indie heist thriller Victoria, shot in a single take, was a critical and commercial hit.
In Caravan, Whitehead will play a rebellious teen who steals a campervan from his stepdad and drives from a resort in Morocco to find his real father in France. "Along the way, he picks up a young Congolese guy who's trying to get into Europe. It's all about their experience," Whitehead tells The Hollywood Reporter, adding that it's an "amazing script.
Shooting on the film, being produced by Studiocanal's German arm, is set to begin in August, giving Whitehead enough time to pass his driving test, complete his Dunkirk press junket duties and even squeeze in a spot of theater, performing for one night at London's Old Vic in Queers, a series of monologs directed by Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss. He had his stage debut earlier this year in the hugely well-received Natives at the Southwark Playhouse alongside Ella Purnell and Manish Gandhi.
